Assisted Living Senior's Luau Party

What to wear:

Hawaiian shirts, bright prints, grass skirts over shorts, long summer dresses, shorts, sandals, hats, shades, visors, sunglasses, leis

Make Paper Leis:

You will need string (36 to 40 inches in length), scissors, colored paper and whole punch. Coloured straws cut into 2 inch lengths, or beads or macaroni.

Create a ‘daisy' like flower design master copy that you can trace onto other pieces of paper to be cut out. Once all are cut out, punch hole in the center and then string a flower and a bead or straw pice and alternate for the full length of the string. Leave a couple inches on either end of the string to tie it together.

Making Flower Leis:

You will need fresh flowers/blooms with the stems removed, needles and string or thread. You can also use silk flowers.

To make neck leis use about 90 inches of string and approximately 50 blooms. This will depend on the type of flower bloom you are using. String together with the needle and string or thread, leaving enough room at the ends to tie together.

You can also make wrist leis or head leis.
