About Nursing Home Activities Resource
My name is DJ Hughes and I was inspired to make this Nursing Home Activities website because of the difficulty in finding many activities to use specifically for seniors, and even more so for those that required special products or variations of an activity that better suited their physical and mental state.
Senior’s caregivers, especially those at home caring for loved ones, have a hard time finding a good variety of activities for seniors. Professional caregivers, Activity Coordinator’s and Recreational Therapists are trained and given many resources, as well as a community they can tap into. Caregivers at home do not have the same resources. Also, because activities can be so varied and flexible many activity coordinator’s and recreational therapists have found unique activities that will also benefit many others in senior care facilities like adult day cares, assisted living facilities and hospitals.
Maybe with Nursing Home Activities Resource we can bring these two care giving communities together. Professionals can share their ideas with those at home that may need some fresh input and ideas they simply would not have thought of on their own. So I hope everyone is willing to contribute new activity ideas. There are more out there than I can gather all on my own!
To all caregivers everywhere, I admire and appreciate what you do very much. I have known many elderly people whose quality of living has been greatly improved by warm and loving hands and hearts like yours. A caregivers job is very diverse, demanding, and requires creativity, flexibility and organization. You are good at what you do because you have a heart with tremendous patience and concern for those you care for.
Thank you for all you do for our aging family members and friends. I hope this site can be of some help to you.
I am located in Alberta, Canada.
